Quotes from inside www.wrightmoore.net, official website of Wright Moore, still life and landscape artist:

"...I have been influenced by the tradition of spectral painting set forth by post impressionist realists like Frank DuMond and Birge Harrison.  But I find myself returning again and again to basic tonal ideas which capitalize on notions of color and colorlessness."

"...a spectral painting approach, if one approaches the painting process in this way, begs the reader of nature to intuit that in the visual world surrounding us the rainbow itself is indeed all around us.  Visual reality is infused with some version of one side or the other of the spectral rainbow.  Many of my paintings are created with this guiding principle in mind."

"...In terms of content, I paint mainly still lifes and landscapes, with emphasis lately on the later.  Whichever it is, I approach my subject with the idea of  getting down what it is that I see.  In this way, the content of my work is the evidence of an empathetic encounter with the subject.  And more and more I am delving further into this 'direct response universe', looking for a more and more immediate response to what it is I see: "How far can I go?" is a question I ask myself.  My favorite places to paint are Harriman State Park, Bear Mountain State Park,  Peekskill Park, Croton Point and the Osborn Preseve in Garrison."

"...as for materials, I use only the best: David Davis or Central J linen with  lead oil prime; or I make my own surfaces with Utrecht 74D linen: two coats of rabbit skin glue/two coats of lead oil prime."
